Foreign direct investment capital importation in May, 2020 dropped by 34.76% to $10.19 million, from $17.01 million recorded in April, 2020. Also, foreign portfolio capital importation declined by 71.59% in May, 2020 compared with April, 2020; while other investments capital importation declined by 20.34%. However, in June, 2020, the capital importation of all the three types of investment grew significantly, with foreign portfolio recording a growth more than fiften times compared with the previous month, foreign direct investment recording a growth more than eleven times the previous month, while other investments only increased by 67%.
Of the foreign total capital importation in June, 2020, Shares received the highest, representing $299.33 million, while Construction the lowest, $16.7 thousand.
The United Kingdom and The Republic of South Africa are Nigeria's highest sources of capital inflows in June, 2020 with $283.51 million and $108.81 million respectively.
By destination of investment, only five states, including Abuja (FCT) received capital importation, Anambra; Kano, Lagos and Ogun. Lagos state remains the top destination for capital investment with $683.14 million in June, 2020, while Kano received the lowest, $89.94 thousand.
